• Hawk Direct-Drive vs. Planetary Grinders:

  • Planetary grinders are belt and pulley driven machines, they rely on their extreme weight to grind concrete and remove coatings.  Because of the weight, 230 and 480 volt motor, and often 3-phase, are required (red pic, right.)

  • Hawk grinders, because of their direct-drive, create more torque than a planetary grinder and operate from a 120 volt, 15/20 amp circuit (black pic, right.)

  • HOW TO CHOOSE?  Consider project size:

    • For projects under 2,500 sq fit, direct-drive grinders are recommended

    • For larger projects, go with a planetary grinder.
